Not satisfied .... Sometime in 1971, more precisely on August 27, 1971, Joaquim Landeau and Lucio Rodrigues, with the help of another element with technical knowledge of injection, Mr. César Guedes, decided to create a new company, this time in the injection area, with the main objective of testing the molds manufactured at the parent company, that is, at Moldoplástico.
Even today, many remember, when an injection machine was acquired in 1972 and it was the largest in the region, with a more technologically advanced system and that escaped the conventional standards of the machines of the time. Putting it into operation, say those who still remember, was a real challenge. For several years Joluce worked as a complement to the parent company for the tests and trials of the molds that were produced there and also as a manufacturer of parts in series, under a subcontracting regime.
For many, many years, Plásticos Joluce, mainly due to the small facilities it had, the few resources and difficulties that were felt in the past, was a company that did not have a very significant growth. In the early 90's the first mold of a chair for Joluce was made, a hull for a stadium chair…. and that in a way would be the start for what would become the company's true core business. Just before 2000, and because it had a long-standing partnership with a Batalha company, Rino e Rino Group , a company that was dedicated to the manufacture of garden furniture, but also due to the synergies it had with Moldoplástico, that at that time was one of the most renowned manufacturers of chair molds in the world… at the time they were the most complex molds that were manufactured, Joluce decides to invest in this area and in 2000 the first monobloc chair mold is manufactured in the company, which is only and even today, the mold that produces more pieces every year and sells to different parts of the globe. The Casablanca and Lagos monobloc chair mold with millions of pieces already produced since the date of its manufacture in the year 2000.
In 2017, this growth would also have the consequence of the requalification of the old installations of Oliveira de Azeméis, causing its activity to be divided today between the municipalities of Oliveira de Azeméis and Estarreja. Currently, it has more than 80 employees.
... two visionaries ... whose names we all know, Joaquim Landeau and Lúcio Rodrigues, who met while working in the glass industry, at the time one of the most developed industries in the region and the largest in our country. Both decided in 1955 to found one of the first mold companies in Oliveira de Azeméis, Moldoplástico, which would become one of the largest national companies in the sector and also a true training center, because it was from here that many of the entrepreneurs who still have today mold companies in Oliveira de Azeméis.
The combination of the first 2 letters of the proper names of these 3 elements, who would become the founding partners of Plásticos Joluce, the company's first corporate name, gave rise to the name by which our company is best known today, that is, JOLUCE.
The typology of pieces that were most produced were buckets, bowls, boxes and packaging for various applications such as picnic boxes, construction boxes and transport boxes, plates and cutlery, bowls ... the well-known door packaging -new and still combs. The textile area was also part of the company's history and many were the molds of line carts that produced here, with different shapes and dimensions, for large companies in the North of Portugal as it was for example the COATS & CLARKS.
This was to be the starting point for a considerable growth of the company, with the manufacture of many more molds of outdoor furniture, which led to the fact that in 2005 a great investment had been made in the change of facilities, Joluce would move de Oliveira de Azeméis to the Ecoparque empresarial de Estarreja, where it has a total area of more than 20,000 m2. It is here that the company consolidates itself as one of the largest manufacturers in the Iberian Peninsula and the largest national in 3 areas: - Garden furniture; - The customized terraces, in which Joluce was one of the pioneers with the use of IML (In Mold Labeling) technology; - And more recently with premium materials for the Contract furniture.
With more than 45 years, Plásticos Joluce, has been consolidating its position in the national and international market, ranking itself as one of the reference companies in the sector, and seeing it recognized as a PME Excellence and Leader consecutively in recent years and still with the attribution of some very prestigious international awards.
